The recipe calls for blending black tea and natural bergamot fruit essence. The timing of the floral infusion is key to producing an aromatic balance of medium bodied tea with a superb citrus aroma. The Earl took the recipe back to England, and soon the tea gained worldwide renown under the name of its discoverer.
