“Infusions is one of the best places in the entire Bay Area to purchase tea, in part because all the products are organic and in part because the owner is a knowledgeable buyer who sources excellent teas.” When the teahouse opened, “it struck an immediate chord with locals and has since become one of the most intimate public gathering spots in all of west county.” (Press Democrat, Mouthful, July 2008)
The business started in 2003, operating as a small retail store specializing in organic loose-leaf tea & teaware. After two years, it moved to a new location to expand operations as a teahouse. The 1250 square foot location is nicely situated in downtown, in a busy shopping center, a few doors down from whole foods market. The rent is $1,750/month. The land lord will negotiate terms and options directly with new tenant, to accommodate buyer’s needs.
Strength & opportunities
The teahouse has been in operation in the current location for two years, producing a positive cash flow, with great opportunity for growth.
With close to 100 organic loose-leaf teas, the teahouse has fast gained reputation for a source of high quality tea, and gathered a loyal following. While it has already established a website promoting it’s wide selection of teas, and regularly ship orders to customers, there is a great opportunity for developing it’s web presence with full shopping capabilities. It has also established itself as a wholesaler of fine teas, supplying restaurants, spas, and specialty shops. There is enormous potential in the expansion of the current highly respected tea distribution sector of the business.
With a growing interest in tea, there is also great demand by patrons for a tea education program, conducting tea tastings, and classes surrounding the many facets of tea.
